Acting Bio

Lydia has a wholesome essence, combining mature dependability with a natural warmth and friendliness which draws people in. Her solid presence and confidence are tempered by a youthful playfulness, observable in her twinkling eyes and infectious, dimpled smile. At home in both comedy and drama, she brings an energetic, honest, and approachable persona to all of her roles. Her healthy, athletic build, with her advanced dance and martial arts training, makes her ready to tackle any physical requirements.

Lydia Bonney has taken advantage of modern technology to train with fellow actors around the world. Her training started with Juilliard alumni and NYU Tisch adjunct professor, Paul Witthorne. She has also trained with CSA casting director, Mark Tillman, and working actor, Shawn-Caulin Young. She trained with actor and dialect coach Todd Karner and is currently taking classes with Chris Cassarino. Additionally, Lydia has trained in theater with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and Interlochen Fine Arts Camp. 

A pure Michigan native, Lydia has built up a strong film presence in Michigan by working with several local award-winning directors. Lydia can be seen as Maddie in Joel Potrykus’s “Thing From the Factory by the Field” (2022). Streaming on the Criterion Channel, the story follows a band of teenage metalheads who get more than they bargained for when they accidentally kill a demon during a band initiation. A “church girl”, Maddie stands out in her yellow dress in contrast to the other teens. The ‘misfit of misfits’, Maddie will do anything to save her new friends’ souls. 

Lydia has also worked with director Kyle Misak, on the award-winning short film, “The Autumn Girl” (2020), and up and coming director Allison Riley, on the award-winning short film, “In the Blood” (2022). 

Outside of acting, Lydia has many interests and skills. At 3 years old, Lydia performed for the first time on stage in a tap dance routine. Since then, Lydia has trained in a multitude of dance styles and specializes in tap dance which she now teaches. Currently preparing for her black belt test in Tae Kwon Do, Lydia has been training in martial arts for 3 years. With a love for movement, Lydia also practices yoga and has undergone basic stunt training. Musically, Lydia plays the piano and is taking vocal lessons. A bit of a gamer, in her free time, Lydia enjoys playing board games, card games, and video games with her friends and family. An adventurous spirit, Lydia loves exploring and is always ready to try new things.
